Film Grant Rules
TSF Film Grant Rules - Last updated May 2021.
There will be four rounds per year and each round will have $2500 allocated per quarter.
- Q1 – 01st January to March 31
- Q2 – 01st April to June 30
- Q3 – 01st July to September 30
- Q4 – 01st October to December 31
TSF members must apply for film grants and adhere to the code of conduct.
TSF Film Grants can only be used for typical “one-time only” per-production expenses: food, travel, props, cast and crew fees, location expenses, equipment rental, etc. Funding can NOT be used to purchase equipment or software.
TSF Film Grants will be made available on a first come/first served basis.
Applications will be assessed quickly and approved or declined by one Nelson/Tasman assessor, and one Blenheim/Kaikoura assessor. If an assessor is attached to any application, they will excuse themselves and the other assessor will judge that application. The current two assessors are long term TSF members Aaron Falvey and Tim Hawthorne.
Most TSF film grant applications will be approved except where too many applications come through in one round, or where minimum creative and membership involvement standards are not met. If there are too many applications for funding in one round, the last submitted applications will be deferred to the next round. Funding will be released when that round opens.
The amounts of the grants can be of any amount between $100 and $1000. TSF will strive to approve TSF Film Grants in the amounts of: 1x $1000 grant, 2 x $500 grants, 2 x $250 grants. If there are four TSF members applying for $1000 grants in one round, the assessors may use their discretion to either defer some applications to the next round or grant each a partial amount of the sum they have requested. This will depend on what other applications have come in with that funding round. Our assessors are operating on a first come/first served
basis.
TSF members can only receive one successful Film Grant per year when they apply.
Grant recipients are required to submit a Production Report within 30 days of production completion (finished edit).
Any TSF grant funds NOT accounted for or spent must be refunded to TSF within 30 days of production completion.
